If you are wearing silk, nothing more than the heat of your hand will take all crush marks and creases away.
This is a trick I picked up when I was the in house dressmaker at Radhika in Bristol. As the person often called upon to advise clients on fabric choices, I quickly realised that I needed to be as good at selling silk as I was at cutting and sewing it.
Even 20 years on, people were still afraid of buying silk thanks to the lingering memory of Lady Diana Spencer as she got out of her carriage in her crumpled and creased wedding gown. Logically, the size of the dress v. the size of the carriage somewhat indicated that crumpling was unavoidable, but nevertheless, it went into the nation's mind that silk was a bad thing for a wedding gown because it creased and crumpled and had you looking like a wrung out dishrag.
